Celebration

KAT NOVE YOUNG WRITER

Writing something about 45 years ago.

I turned 63 today and decided to really celebrate for a change.

Here are the things I celebrated.

Taking the day off from not only work, but also politics.

The Remote Control Terrorist aka the somewhat humanoid who I live with got me an out-of-print copy of one of my favorite books, Genius, by Patrick Dennis.  He also made me breakfast tacos and for dinner bought my favorite food, the house fried rice from a local Chinese restaurant.

Buying myself a coconut birthday cake because I could.

Being part of the best family ever.

Cast of characters:

Mortified Daughter, her husband, Mortified Daughter Defiler and their two children, Pumpkinhead the Elder and Pumpkinhead the Younger.

Having a sister and brother and their spouses who have always been there for me.

My aunts and uncle.

My nephews, their spouses and children.

My parents being good people and some of that possibly rubbing off on me.

Getting to see a few of my awesome cousins today.  There is always laughter when they are around.  Being able to see more cousins in a few days.

Hearing from so many amazing friends who I rarely hang with because I’m such an introvert.  To all of them I say, “It’s not you, it’s me.”

My cat Mow being very affectionate today, leading me to imagine she really loves me.  Doubtful.  She’s a cat and I give her snacks every day.

Christopher Moore books.

Stephen King is still writing!

Books.

Alternative music.

Beer.

Brian Christopher live-streaming today.

Being able to pay for groceries for the people in line in front of me who couldn’t find their gift card.

A beautiful cold day in Texas.

The beauty of well-applied sarcasm.

Surviving an aortic valve replacement.  My pig valve named Breakfast seems to be working.

Life its ownself as Dan Jenkins would say.
